Focused Extensions makes the Chrome extensions listed below. They are local-first: what you read, write and collect stays in your browser unless you use a feature that needs our server, and then we receive only what that feature needs. We never sell your data, never use it for advertising, and never track you across websites.
This page covers what all our extensions have in common. Each extension also has its own page with the details for it:
- PaperKit PDF Editor
- Narra Read Aloud
- ReplyKit
- Threadly
- KeyLens
- Duosub
- ShelfScout
- MapLeads
- DraftLens
- Harvest
- ListLoop
- Scorecard
- DealLens
- ChatLedger
- Nudge
Your install id
Each installed extension makes up a random install id. It is sent with requests to our server so free-plan allowances can be counted for that browser. It is not linked to your name or email unless you activate a licence.
Licences and purchases
When you buy a plan we receive your name and email address, what you bought and the order or subscription reference from our payment provider. We store your licence (key, plan, status and renewal date), which browsers it is activated on (install id and when each last checked in), and, for credit plans, your credit balance and spending history.
Payments are handled by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record, which processes your payment details and sales tax under its own privacy policy. We never see your card details.
Usage limits
Free and paid allowances are counted on our server per install id or per licence: for example how many AI requests or lookups were used this month. These are numbers only.
AI features
Some extensions offer AI features. When you use one, the text it needs (described on each extension’s page) is sent through our server to Anthropic, which provides the Claude models. We don’t store it, and Anthropic doesn’t use API data to train its models.
Optional “Help improve” data
Off unless you turn it on in an extension’s settings. It sends event names and small values, such as “subtitles loaded on YouTube”, never page content. To count each network once on public status pages, events carry a tag made from your network address with a secret key that changes daily; the address itself is not stored. These events are deleted after 90 days.
Uninstall survey
If you answer the optional survey after uninstalling, we store your answer, any comment you type and the install id.
Network information
Like any web service, our server receives your IP address with each request. We use it to answer the request and to apply rate limits, and keep only short-lived hashed counters for that purpose. We don’t use it to identify you or build a profile.
Service providers
We use a small number of providers to run the service: our hosting provider, Lemon Squeezy for payments, an email provider to send licence keys, and the providers named on each extension’s page for the features that need them. They process data only to provide their service to us.
Security
All traffic uses HTTPS. Sensitive data, such as connected-account tokens, API keys you give us and shared team content, is encrypted at rest, as noted on each extension’s page.
Keeping and deleting data
Data in your browser stays until you delete it or uninstall the extension. On our server, data is kept for the periods given on these pages, and otherwise for as long as your licence or team needs it. Purchase records are kept as long as required for tax and accounting.
To ask what we hold about you, or to have it deleted, email us from the address you used to buy. We reply within 30 days.
Google user data
Where an extension uses Google APIs, its page lists the permissions and why. Our use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements, and to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy.
Children
Our extensions are not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
If we change how we handle data, we update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect.
